The Visual Arts in Middle and Upper Schools offer students a spectrum of courses that introduce them to all art forms and mediums. Students create and collaborate on projects that are shared communally.
- Sculpture classes experiment with recyclable materials, wood working, clay, and more
- General Studio Art is offered to 5th and 6th graders and all Upper School students
- 7th and 8th graders work with 2 Dimensional studies including color theory, value studies, sketching, and painting
- Advanced Placement Studio Art requires burgeoning artists to create thematic portfolios
- College level Art History delves into movements, chronological periods, artists, and techniques of particular pieces
- Electives Contemporary Mixed Media and Community and Public Art take students beyond the walls of the classroom as they work with installation, environmental, and performance art
More than merely discovering mediums and techniques, the visual arts curriculum discovers how art can enrich communities and provide a combination of public service, art, and collaboration.
